Palate Celler Selection

There are wines that are great values and then there are those mind blowing values where you go all-in. The 2007 Caburnio is one of those amazing wines that you only find once or twice a year. It is a Tuscan blend from the southern part of Tuscany not too far from Rome. Cabernet, Merlot, and Alicante. This is the best red in the store for the money. It has enough fruit for the American palate, but still enough of Italy to let you know where it is from. It was rated a Wine Spectator 92 and is $16.99 a bottle. Here is the rating: "Fresh and focused flavors of black cherry, black currant and herbs that border on jammy, but never cross the line. Supple and smooth, offering ripe tannins and bright acidity for structure, with excellent length." We have 10 cases coming Thursday. If you are looking for a great daily drinking wine to load up on and enjoy over the next few years, do not look any further. It is young enough that it will evolve if you can keep your hands off it. Do not miss this wine. It is going to be one of the best buys of the year and will not last long.
