Angie's Corner

Memorial Day is coming up May 30! It's time to bleach out the cooler, put the picnic blanket in the wash and pick out your summer wines. Let us help you with the 3rd item on your to-do list! For early summer festivities, I recommend a Pinot Gris and I have 2 from Palate to put in your picnic basket.

Pinot Gris is a perfect summer wine. Typically light, refreshing and crisp, they are a beautiful compliment to the summer sunset. Perfect for sipping and wonderful with your light summer meals, keep one of these in your fridge for an instant crowd pleaser.

Oregon's Acrobat Pinot Gris 2009 would be a beautiful complement to your Memorial Day festivities. This crisp Pinot Gris has hints of melon, green apple and citrus. It is lovely for sipping on your boat before dinner or to accompany your grilled chicken and potato salad. It is also in our $120 case buy Special.

The Sineann Pinot Gris, from Oregon, is also a great choice. The Sineann has big hints of citrus, apricot and little minerality on the finish. We find this to be the best American Pinot Gris we have tried. At $19.99, it is completely affordable elegance for your summer festivities.

A crisp, refreshing pinot Gris is an excellent selection for your Memorial Day weekend festivities. Light and floral on the palate, it will set the tone for a great summer to come.

May your champagne be filled with bubbles,

Angie Ann Makuch
